Two people were arrested on drug charges Tuesday on Bechtold Road in McCracken County.

Detectives went to a camper where 33-year-old Maurita Dunn was inside with a two-year-old child. Detectives seized methamphetamine and assorted drug paraphernalia from inside the camper in areas easily accessible to the child.

Detectives learned that 38-year-old Benny Dawson was also a resident of the camper but was at work. He was located and arrested at a home that evening.

A narcotic K-9 alerted to the presence of illegal drugs coming from Dawson’s truck, which turned out to be additional methamphetamine.

Dunn was charged with possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia, and wanton endangerment 1st degree. Dawson was charged with trafficking in methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. They were both lodged in the McCracken County Regional Jail.

A social worker placed the child with a family member.
