Two people were injured when a Ballard County ambulance collided with a van early Monday morning.

The accident happened around 12:35 am on Highway 60. Twenty-two-year-old Alexandria Clark of Paducah told Paducah police officers she was driving the ambulance east with its emergency lights activated when she approached a red light at New Holt Road. Clark said she tried to turn on the vehicle's siren, but it was not working.

Clark told officers she conducted a "rolling stop," then proceeded into the intersection, where the ambulance struck broadside a van driven by 24-year-old Octavio Ramos, also of Paducah.

Ramos told police he was northbound on New Holt Road and had a green light, so he proceeded into the intersection. He said he did not see the ambulance until his van was hit.

Clark and a passenger in ambulance, 30-year-old Josh Berry of Greer, South Carolina, were taken to Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital for treatment of their injuries.
