Bonnie Browning, Quilt Show Director for the American Quilter Society, is busy working with vendors, teachers and visitors who are arriving for another Fall QuiltWeek Paducah, which starts Wednesday morning.

All of those who have been pouring into town to work at the show are putting on the finishing touches for the show and contest, and those who have arrived to participate in the contest or see this year's collection will have their chance.

Times for viewing this year's collection of quilts from around the world will be Wednesday through Friday, September 12-14, 9 am to 6 pm and on Saturday, September 15, 9 am to 4 pm.

Quilters who want to get in on the kick-off of this year's Fall AQS QuiltWeek can meet Browning at the Food Court in front of the Carroll Convention Center at 8:40 am Wednesday. Each person can bring a small quilt and march with the Paducah Tilghman Band through the Expo Center and then back outside, where the band will give a brief performance before heading back to school.

Here’s how anyone can become part of the show with the first-ever Pop-up Quilt Exhibit:

1) Meet Bonnie and Liz at the AQS Learning Center (1st floor of the Convention Center) at 12:00 pm on Friday, September 14, 2018.
2) Bring one of your favorite wallhangings to share (it should be small enough that one person can carry it).
3) Bring a note card with your name, city, state, and quilt title and the technique you used printed on the card.

Everything will start promptly at 12:00 pm, so everyone can get to their 1:00 pm classes.

As for the contest, a panel of three professional quilt judges will select the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Honorable Mention quilts in each of the 15 categories in the contest. The top seven winners will be determined by popular vote.

The winners in the AQS Quilt Contest will be honored at the AQS Winners’ Showcase With Melinda Bula at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, September 12 at Walker Hall Events Center, 229 Madison Street.

Look for the Janome America Best of Show and five other winning quilts in the Winners Gallery in the Schroeder Expo Center, and the Gammill Quilting Machines Best Wall Quilt in the River Rooms on the second floor of the Carroll Convention Center when the show opens on Wednesday. They will be displayed through the remainder of the show.
