Registered voters in the Williams Precinct will decide whether to let their precinct turn wet for alcohol sales, or remain a dry precinct.
McCracken County Clerk Julie Griggs says the election will be from 6:00 am until 6:00 pm, but only for the Williams Precinct. The owner of Blooms 'N Gardens off of I-24's Exit 3 gathered enough signatures to have the measure placed on the ballot.
So how many people did they need to get?
"They had to have thirty-one signatures on the petition...and they actually got 51 signatures so they had more than enough. And once he brought the petition in, then we verified the signatures to make sure they were registered voters," said Griggs.
In July, Marshall County voted to go wet, and petitions are currently being circulated in both Graves County and the City of Mayfield to also go wet.
Griggs says that in order for an entire county to be on the ballot to go wet, instead of by the precinct, someone would need to collect enough signatures to have it placed on the ballot countywide. She says that to date, no one has done that.
