A Paducah woman has been arrested after an investigation into possible embezzlement at a business.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department began investigating last month after getting a complaint from Four Rivers Harley-Davidson. They told detectives an employee may have stolen approximately $40,000 from the business.

The investigation led detectives to believe that the General Manager and Chief Financial Officer, 57-year-old Marie McGruder, had used the company credit card for personal use over the last two years. The Sheriff's Department says she paid for vacations, groceries, pet supplies, electronics and other items with the cards. Detectives also say she was using cards assigned to other departments to hide transactions for personal purchases.

So far, the Sheriff's Department believes that McGruder made over $10,000 in unauthorized purchases. The investigation is ongoing so that a total amount can be determined.

McGruder was arrested Monday and charged with theft by unlawful taking over $10,000, which is a class C felony.
