According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened around 11:00 am in the 6200 block of Cairo Road. Deputies said a car driven by 89-year-old Dorothy Thompson, was traveling westbound on Cairo Road when she apparently lost consciousness
Thompson's car left the roadway and struck a tree. Deputies said the car became lodged on the tree that was uprooted due to the collision.
Thompson was transported to a local hospital for treatment of her injuries.
