Crews will begin construction next week on a new interchange at the US-60 Interstate 24 Exit 4 interchange.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says the new double crossover diamond interchange will improve traffic flow and reduce crash rates, helping reduce delays by eliminating a phase at each traffic signal and reducing the number of left turns. The new interchange will also help increase through capacity along US-60 through the commercial area west of the interchange, and will improve left turn movements from the I-24 ramps.

Construction signs are expected to go up this week, with work beginning Monday. A barrier wall extending down the center turn lane on US-60 from Holt Road to the I-24 interchange will be installed prior to work beginning, allowing left turns only at intersections with signals. There will be no left turn from US-60 eastbound to Holt Road northbound. One lane will remain open at all times.

Lane restrictions will be in place during business hours at various locations. Work will initially be done at night, but some daytime and weekend work may also be required.
