The 11th annual Paducah Zombie Walk is Saturday in downtown Paducah.

Event organizer Garrett Dykes told West Kentucky Star the walk will start at 5 pm at the corner of 9th and Broadway. Everyone who participates is asked to bring non perishable food items, which will be donated to Paducah's Family Service Society.

Walkers who need help applying makeup can arrive by 4 pm and makeup will be provided for a donation of $3 or five non-perishable food items.

Everyone will meet in the parking lot of Hometown Decorating on the corner of 9th and Broadway. Once the zombies are ready, they will shuffle down Broadway to Maiden Alley Cinema, where a couple of activities will take place.

Dykes, said, "We have a dance group that performs, 'Thriller,' for everyone, and then after that, we have a costume contest for kids and adults and give out prizes for that."

He said approximately 150 people participated last year.

Dykes got involved after participating in the first Zombie Walk in 2009, and has been organizing it  since about 2012, when the original planner moved away.

"I volunteered to keep it running because I thought Paducah needed the Zombie Walk to keep going to help the Family Service Society, and to help have a good time for people who love zombies," Dykes said.
