A Metropolis man was arrested and faces trespassing and drug charges after being found inside someone else’s home.

Police were called to a home on Filmore Street when the daughter of the homeowner walked in to find a man who did not belong in her father’s house. The woman reportedly identified the man as 42-year-old Eric Mitchell of Metropolis. She said he left when confronted. The daughter said that no one had permission to be in the home.

Mitchell was located a short time later along Walter Drive. They arrested him and charged him with criminal trespass, but a search also allegedly uncovered a glass pipe with what was said to be methamphetamine residue. Mitchell is also facing a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was taken to the Massac County Detention Center.
