A Paducah man is facing several charges following a disturbance on Levin Avenue on Wednesday.

The Paducah Police Department said officers were called to a home in the 700 block of Levin Avenue after receiving a report that a man, later identified as 25-year-old Jarrell Mason, had pointed a handgun at a family member and attempted to fire it. Officers said Mason had fled the scene on foot before they arrived.

During the investigation, detectives received a tip from a resident at a local apartment complex who had seen Mason fleeing behind their apartment. While searching the area detectives said they found a handgun matching the description provided by the victim. Police said they discovered the firearm been reported stolen. Mason had a prior felony conviction and was legally prohibited from possessing a firearm.

Mason later turned himself into police at the Paducah Police Department. He was arrested on charges of wanton endangerment, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and receiving stolen property.
