Attempts at telephone scams continue to plague local residents, according to reports from the Calloway and McCracken County sheriff's offices.
Deputies said numerous residents are still reporting that they receive calls from people claiming to be from the sheriff's office, and they tell residents to make electronic payments for an outstanding warrant.
The callers have even been providing a call-back number, which they answer as if they are at the sheriff's office.
Both departments remind residents that they will never ask you for money over the phone.
