2.1 Earthquake Shakes Cape Girardeau

CAPE GIRARDEAU - A small earthquake shook southeast Missouri and southern Illinois on Sunday.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey at the University of Memphis, the 2.1 quake was centered about 4 miles north of Cape Girardeau and about 30 miles south-southwest of Carbondale, IL

It happened around 5:00 pm.

The USGS says that a quake of 2.5 is the threshold of humans being able to detect the ground shaking.
