The National Weather Service in Paducah says rain is tapering off tonight, a welcome change from three wet days that included minor flooding.

Widespread measurements of one to two inches of rain fell in some areas on Tuesday that swelled small creeks and streams, and put several roads under water.

In Paducah, a record was set for February 4 with 2.63 inches of rain.

Before tonight's precipitation ends, temperatures will fall below freezing in parts of southwest Indiana, southern Illinois, and southeast Missouri. A very thin glaze of ice is possible, mainly along a line from Mt. Vernon, Illinois to Marble Hill, Missouri. Any icing should be mostly on elevated surfaces such as bridges and decks.

There is a chance for wintry precipitation Thursday evening over southwest Indiana and western Kentucky, with a possible dusting of less than a quarter inch of snow.

Colder temperatures are forecast Friday and Saturday, before recovering to the 50s on Sunday.

Looking into next week, rainfall amounts of one half to one inch Sunday night through early Monday may cause more isolated flooding concerns on Monday.

A wintry mix is possible Monday night over parts of southeast Missouri and southern Illinois, but little if any impact is expected at this time.
