The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Wind Advisory until 6 pm, saying southwest winds will blow 20-25 mph with some gusts approaching 40 mph. Wind gusts of this magnitude could make travel difficult at times for those in high profile vehicles.

Another area of concern is a winter storm system that will bring freezing rain, sleet and snow to the region Friday through Friday night.

Confidence is increasing that the area could receive significant ice, sleet and snow accumulations, but the details have yet to be worked out.

The Friday evening commute could be impacted by this weather.

Very light freezing rain or snow will be possible, mainly across the northern half of the region Saturday night. Little impact is expected for now.

Minor to moderate flooding is forecast on most area rivers, with some not expected to crest until well into next week.
