Although the temperature Tuesday never rose above the freezing mark, sunshine helped warm the steel deck of the bridge and melted the accumulated ice.
The KYTC reminds those traveling through the area that the bridge has a 15 ton load limit, and an 8 foot maximum vehicle width restriction, as well as a 9 foot 6 inch height restriction. Farm equipment and permitting loads of any kind are prohibited from crossing.

The Brookport Bridge is closed until further notice.
According to Massac County Emergency Management, the bridge closed about 9:25 pm.
