Brookport Man Faces Meth Charges after Pursuit

A Brookport man was arrested Friday night in Metropolis after a foot chase.

The Massac County Sheriff's Office says a deputy stopped 41-year-old James Summers of Brookport, who was riding a bicycle carrying five backpacks at around 11 p.m. near 12th & Market Street. Summers fled on foot, and was caught after a short chase. A search of the backpacks reportedly revealed syringes and Methamphetamine.

Summers was booked into the Massac County Detention Center, and was later transferred to the Illinois Department of Corrections on a parole violation and meth charges.
