A man faces drug charges, after officers reportedly found more than two pounds of marijuana in his vehicle.
Brookport Police Officers responded Monday evening to a report of a suspicious vehicle at a home on Unionville Road. The resident told police they had recently been threatened and did not recognize the vehicle. When officers arrived, they found the vehicle at a business next door to the home.
Officers said they identified the driver as 31-year-old Augustine M. Vega, and that Vega had a history of encounters with police. They searched Vega's vehicle and reportedly found a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Police said later in the search they found about two and a half pounds of marijuana in mason jars and $1340 in cash.
Vega was arrested on drug charges and taken to the Massac County Jail.
