Responders from multiple local agencies went into action Monday, after rising floodwaters trapped two Massac County residents and their pets.

The Massac County Emergency Management Agency said crews responded Monday to a report of two people, six dogs and two cats who were not able to safely evacuate their Busclas Lane home due to flooding. The McCracken County Rescue Squad also responded with a boat to assist in the rescue.

Responders were reportedly able to safely evacuate the residents and their pets from their homes without incident.

In a Facebook post Tuesday morning, Massac County Emergency Management thanked McCracken County OEM, the McCracken County Rescue Squad, Massac County Animal Control, and the Massac County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance.
