Head-on Crash Claims Two Lives

A crash involving a motorcycle and a semi-tractor trailer killed two people on Saturday evening.

According to Illinois State Police, the accident happened just before 7 pm on Illinois Route 148 in Williamson County.  Police say a motorcycle was southbound about 1/2-mile south of Pigeon Creek Road when it crossed the center line of the road into the path of a northbound semi tractor trailer. The driver of the truck could not avoid a head-on collision.

The rider and passenger on the motorcycle were both killed in the crash. The driver of the tractor trailer was not hurt.

Names of the people involved have not yet been released, pending family notification.
