Honeywell Negotiations Continue As Deadline Looms

Negotiations continue between Honeywell and the United Steelworkers Union representatives, with a deadline looming on their current contract.

The USW Local 7-669 website and a Honeywell press release confirmed that proposals were exchanged Wednesday on benefits and subcontracting. The company gave the union a comprehensive proposal on remaining issues, and asked for negotiations to begin earlier on Thursday. The union agreed, but told its members that the two parties remain, "far apart on a ton of issues."

The current contract between workers at the Metropolis uranium plant and the company is set to expire Friday at 11:59 pm.

The union has a meeting Thursday night at 5:00 pm.
