A man was arrested Wednesday on an attempted robbery charge.

The Metropolis Police Department says officers responded at around 2:15 p.m. to a report of a strangely dressed man wearing a mask in the area of 5th and Butler Streets.

When officers arrived in the area they noticed the man's feet and hands were covered by plastic and duct taped closed. The man fled on a bicycle and a short chase ensued. Officers boxed him in and took him into custody.

A search revealed that the man identified as 33-year-old Adam Zace had a toy gun and a robbery note. He was arrested and charged with attempted aggravated robbery, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

Officers learned from the Illinois Department of Corrections that Zace is currently on parole. He is being held at the Massac County Detention Center.
