A former business official and treasurer with Carterville schools was sentenced Friday to a year and a day in federal prison for stealing
funds from the southern Illinois district.

Now of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Todd Frazier also was ordered to repay more than $100,000 and complete 200 hours of community service after this prison time.

Frazier, 32, pleaded guilty last January in U.S. District Court in Benton to embezzlement and theft charges. He admitted he was working as the district's treasurer and payroll officer when he stole the funds from August 2008 through February 2012.

Frazier was fired after an audit revealed the missing funds.
