Management at Misty Meadows Assisted Living contacted Metropolis police and showed them surveillance video of a person going into rooms while patients were in the dining hall. One of the patients was missing 59 hydrocodone pills.
Officers did a pill count on Friday and set up more video surveillance, which showed 56-year-old Judith McGinnis enter the room and leave a few minutes later. She was stopped, and officers found 13 pills in her possession, which matched the number of pills missing from the patient's bottle.
McGinnis was arrested and charged with burglary and possession of a controlled substance. She was taken to Massac County Detention Center.
