After an early week soaking, the National Weather Service estimates another 3 inches of rain will aggravate the already waterlogged Ohio Valley beginning Thursday night through this weekend, and now the threat of severe winds has been added to the mix.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed the entire region in a slight risk of severe thunderstorms on Saturday. There is also an enhanced risk of severe thunderstorms stretching along and south of a line from Poplar Bluff  to Vienna and near Owensboro.

The greatest period of concern for severe weather across the region will be Saturday from late morning through early evening. There could be some near severe wind gusts possible earlier Saturday morning.

The primary hazard will be for more widespread damaging winds near clusters of thunderstorms. Should a few isolated storms develop ahead of the main band of thunderstorms, an isolated tornado may develop and intensify with time.
