Semi Driver Cited after I-57 Rollover Crash

The driver of a semi has been charged with using his cellphone while driving, after a Saturday evening rollover crash on Interstate 57.

According to Illinois State Police, the preliminary investigative showed a northbound semi driven by 60-year-old Khuong Nguyen of Grand Prairie, TX rolled over shortly after 8 p.m. near milepost 72.

Police said Nguyen told them he dropped his phone in the cab of the truck and lost control while attempting to get it.

Nguyen was charged with improper lane usage and operating an electronic communication device while driving.

Northbound lanes of I-57 were blocked for about an hour after the crash.
