Authorities in Massac County are looking for tips in a recent car wash burglary.

The Massac County Sheriff's Office says a burglary was reported Wednesday at a car wash on East 2nd Street in Brookport. Deputies said the owner of the car wash arrived at work in the morning and discovered that someone had used a sledgehammer to punch a hole in the concrete block wall and entered the building.

The owner of the car wash said the suspect made off with more than $200 in change and equipment. He provided a picture of the hole in the building, which he says appears to be just large enough for a very small person to fit through.

Investigators say they think the burglary took place after dark Tuesday, or during the early morning hours of Wednesday.

This is the second burglary in Brookport this week where a large amount of change has been stolen. The sheriff's office advises residents to be on the lookout for anyone with a large amount of change.

Anyone with information regarding these burglaries is asked to contact the Massac County Sheriff's Office at 618-524-2912 or through the TIPS line.
