Details have been released about the pair of pursuits that occurred Sunday in Ballard and McCracken counties.

Ballard County deputies were in pursuit of a vehicle that was reportedly stolen during an armed carjacking in Springfield, Illinois. Ballard County deputies lost sight of the vehicle in the area of Highway 286, but McCracken County investigators spotted the same vehicle a short time later on Blandville Road.

During the chase, McCracken County deputies said the driver swerved toward a deputy and a Kentucky State Police trooper. Investigators said the trooper was injured when the vehicle hit the rope of the spike strips the trooper was attempting to deploy, causing injury to the trooper’s hand.

Chasing officers lost sight of the stolen vehicle near the 11-mile marker on Interstate 24, but learned from a witness that the vehicle crashed on Husbands Road, near Krebs Station Road.

Multiple agencies conducted a ground search for the suspect they identified as 19-year-old William Parker of Cape Girardeau. Officers found Parker hiding in the loft of a barn near the crash site.

Parker faces charges including assault of law enforcement, wanton endangerment, fleeing, receiving stolen property.
