A suspect is in custody after a home invasion-style residential burglary that occurred early Sunday morning in Kuttawa.

According to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office, at around 3 a.m. a residential burglary was reported to be in progress.

When a deputy arrived, the suspect had reportedly fled the scene after kicking in the front door to the residence where a family of four lived.

Authorities said one person in the home had a minor injury when the door was forcibly opened. The injury did not require medical attention.

Sheriff’s office personnel interviewed potential witnesses and collected evidence before they identified a suspect who lives outside of Lyon County.

Monday night, the Lyon County Sheriff's Office announced that the suspect in the case had been arrested. Sheriff Brent White said that the West Kentucky Violent Crime Task Force, made up of members of the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, McCracken County Sheriff’s Office, Calvert City Police, Kentucky State Police Special Operations, and the ATF, assisted Lyon County Sheriff's deputies in the investigation and arrest.

Information about the suspect and the charges in the case will be released later.

Deputies said there is no known connection between the suspect and the victims in this incident.
