Kentucky State Police at Madisonville were contacted August 3rd by Hopkins County dispatch requesting an investigation of the death of a 10-month-old infant.
The infant was pronounced deceased by the Hopkins County Coroner inside the residence of the infant's caretakers. Further investigation and an autopsy determined that foul play was the cause of death.
The infant's mother, 27-year-old Samantha Stagner of Earlington, and the mother's boyfriend, 29-year-old Dayton Mason, also of Earlington, were arrested Thursday and lodged in the Hopkins County Detention Center.
Both were charged with first degree manslaughter.
