A Paducah woman and her boyfriend are jailed and her toddler remains hospitalized after being brought to a local hospital with a fractured skull and bruises all over her body.

Paducah police were called about 4 pm Sunday after the two-year-old was brought to the hospital by her mother, 22-year-old Willow K. Devasier, and her boyfriend, 24-year-old Maalik S. Rush.

Rush told detectives that the child had fallen in the bathtub and hit her head on the bathtub faucet.

He and Devasier said the bruises were sustained when the child fell other times.

However, medical professionals advised detectives that the injuries were not consistent with the story told by the pair.

Both were interviewed by detectives Tuesday morning and arrested on charges of first-degree criminal abuse.

They were booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.

The child was treated for a fractured skull and a brain bleed, and was flown to an out-of-state hospital for more advanced care.
