The Federal Trade Commission-Division of Consumer and Business Education is warning of potential scams regarding reported government payments to Americans.

Jennifer Leach, with the FTC, says the government will not ask anyone to pay anything up front to get this money, nor will the government call to ask for information such as Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, or credit card numbers.

Leach says that since these reports of checks are not yet a reality, anyone who says they can get the funds delivered now is a scammer, and should be reported to law enforcement.
