According to the United States Geological Survey at the University of Memphis, the quake was centered 4.5 miles east-northeast of Malden and 25.9 miles north-northeast of Kennett. It happened at 1:26 am.
The USGS says that a quake of 2.5 is the threshold of humans being able to detect the ground shaking.
