Lt. Gov. Sheila Simon says the group of lawmakers she's put together to study firearms will meet with families impacted by gun violence.

Simon assembled the Firearms Working Group last month. Members include about a dozen freshmen Illinois legislators.

On Friday Simon plans on having members of the group meet with parents who have lost children in shootings. The meeting will be at Saint Sabina Church on Chicago's South Side, which is led by the Rev. Michael Pfleger. The priest is a staunch gun-control advocate.

Members of the working group plan to meet with people on all sides of the firearms debate, such as police, hunters and domestic violence prevention advocates.
