A man charged in connection with a murder last Friday night at Dolly McNutt Plaza was returned to Paducah early Thursday and is in McCracken County Regional Jail.

Paducah Police say 51-year-old Andy B. McAmis waived extradition, and officers went to Joliet, IL, Wednesday afternoon to pick him up.

He was served a warrant charging him with the murder of Harold B. Bone, and booked into McCracken Co. Jail Thursday morning.

Joliet is about 40 miles southwest of Chicago.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Authorities in Illinois on Monday arrested a man charged in the murder of a Paducah man.

Paducah Police charged Andy B. McAmis late Saturday afternoon in connection with the death of 56-year-old Harold B. Bone, whose body was found in Dolly McNutt Plaza. Detectives worked through the weekend attempting to find McAmis, and eventually received information that led them to believe he was in Joliet, IL with a friend.

On Monday, officers went to Joliet and met with detectives with their police department. Together, they found McAmis and he was arrested about 6:00 pm. Police say they found evidence in Joliet that further implicates McAmis in Bone's death.

Investigators believe that McAmis and Bone were acquaintances, but something happened Friday that led to an altercation at Dolly McNutt Plaza about 9:00 pm. Bone's body was found by a passerby about 12 hours later.

Police say McAmis has an extensive criminal history, including a 2013 conviction for wanton endangerment in the Bowling Green area. His parole on that conviction ended last week.

McAmis was taken to jail in Joliet, and is awaiting extradition to Paducah.
