The Lexington Herald-Leader reports the tourism initiative is called Horse Country Inc. and is a not-for-profit business that seeks increase the number of visitors to thoroughbred farms.
The group announced this month that it hired an executive director and plans to develop an online booking service that will help tourists find a variety of horse-farm related activities.
The effort has been two years in the making. Organizers are modeling their effort after the successful Kentucky Bourbon Trail, which connects people with different distilleries and draws about 750,000 visits annually.
