WKYX (broadcast station of West Kentucky Star) took home eleven awards during the AP Awards Ceremony held in Lexington, Saturday evening.  Four first-place awards and five second-place awards were presented to WKYX 29 categories given in to Professional Radio station.

Those awards were for Best Short Enterprise Reporting and Best Short Light News Feature (Tim Brockwell - Woman Seeks Owner of Baby Book), Best Short Sports Feature (Bill Hughes - Scott Co. Edges McCracken Co. For State Softball Title), and Best Short Public Affairs (Bill Hughes - Help Stuff the Truck).

WKYX was a finalist in Best Continuing Coverage, Best Political Coverage, Best Short Newscast, Best Short Sports Feature, and Best Spot News. The station had all finalists locked up in two categories - Best Short Light News Feature, and Best Short Public Affairs.
