Walmart has implemented some changes to their shopping process in an effort to encourage social distancing.

On Friday Walmart Executive Vice President Dacona Smith announced that beginning Saturday they will limit the number of customers who can be in the store at one time. Stores will allow no more than five customers for each 1,000 square feet at any given time, which is roughly 20 percent of the store's capacity.

To control this, associates will mark a queue at a single entry door (in most cases the grocery entrance), where they will be admitted one-by-one and counted. Once the store's capacity is reached, customers will be allowed inside only on a 1-out-1-in basis.

They are also implementing a one-way movement through their aisles in a number of Walmart locations. They will do this by placing floor markers, and direction from associates.

There will be signs throughout the store to remind customers of social distancing, and once customers check out they will be directed to exit through a different door than the one they entered.
