Karen Lents Chambers, 78, of Charlotte, NC passed away peacefully on February 3, 2024. Karen was born May 8, 1945, in Paducah, Kentucky, to parents Martha Brooks Lents and Robert E. Lents. She grew up in Brewers, Harvey and Benton, KY.  

 
Karen graduated from Benton High School in 1963 and Murray State University with a Bachelor of Arts in English and History in 1967.  She completed graduate school with a master's degree in education. She then taught High School in Marshall County and Larue County, Kentucky. Karen was a voracious reader of both fiction and non-fiction.  She always carried a few books and magazines.  She especially enjoyed studying history.  She loved music of all genres and playing the piano.   

On June 2, 1968, Karen married the love of her life, James “Jim” Chambers. They built a wonderful life together, raising a loving family and making lasting friendships. They lived in Hendersonville, Tennessee and Summerville, South Carolina before settling in Charlotte in 1985.  
 

Family was the most important thing in Karen’s life. She loved spending time with her two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She and Jim enjoyed close relationships with neighbors Mark and Tracy Magyar and special family friend Aubrey Ayash. She adored all the family pets, especially her latest cat Taisley. Karen was active in her church, All Saints Anglican, up until her illness.  She drew special joy from her frequent calls to her cousins back in Kentucky. 

 
Karen Lents Chambers is survived by her husband, Jim Chambers; son, James Bradley Chambers (Marissa Smail) of Independence, KY; a daughter, Tracy Katherine Dulin (Bill Jones) of Waxhaw, NC; grandchildren, Jocelyn Alexandra Tucker of Belmont, NC and Joshua Terrell Dulin (Grace Steichen) of Colorado Springs, CO ; great-grandchildren, Summer Jolene Chambers and Cameron James Chambers; brother, Don Lents (Doris Hudson Lents) of Paducah, KY; niece Natalie Lents of Charlotte, NC  and her daughter Naomi.  

A graveside service will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Cole Cemetery in Marshall County KY.  Family and friends are invited to the service and to a reception immediately following the service at Pleasant Grove Methodist Church, 16 Wadesboro Road S, Benton, KY.
