Anne Janet Searles Mitchell passed away at 12:45am on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at her home.
She was born in Massac County on July 22, 1939. A daughter of the late Elvis Searles and Pauline Bormann. Married to Charles R. Mitchell on July 22, 1958.
Those who left to treasure her memory, and continue her legacy of living life to the fullest, loving God and each other are Tim (Jamey), Twila (Patrick), Joel (Jualanna); grandchildren, Sara (Kelly) Jennings, Ali (Nick) Johnson, Cody (Stephanie) Mitchell, Laken Mitchell, Glenn Wright, Dylan Mitchell, Claudia Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Brayden, Kylie and Keaton Jennings, Logan and Beau Wright, and Savannah Mitchell; sisters, Darlene (John) Shelby, Pam (Mitch) Bremer; and a host of other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 61 years, Charles; brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Joyce Searles.
At her wishes, she will be cremated. A private scattering of her cremains will be at a later date. There will be no burial or visitation per her request.
Expressions of her life may take the form of contributions to the Metropolis Methodist Church Youth and Children’s Fund or Weekend Blessings, both at 100 E 5th St. Metropolis, IL 62960.
