Marjorie E. (Wesner) Cox, 97, died peacefully on Friday, July 12, 2025 at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky. Born April 8, 1928 of Henry and Laura (McGill) Wesner, she was the youngest of three, Earl Wesner, Lucille Scheessele, Harold Wesner. She was the last survivor in that generation of their family.

Margie met her husband at church where she played piano. She married Rev. Dr. John H. Cox on June 18th, 1954. They were married for 43 years. She worked side-by-side with him during his 32 years in ministry of the United Methodist Church. They retired to Brookport, Illinois and enjoyed a simple life. John died in 1996.

Margie was an avid reader and always had a stack of books by her bed. She had a beautiful soprano voice during her prime and the family often sang a quartet when the kids were younger. Margie hand-quilted 100s of quilts for her family and friends. She enjoyed being challenged by crossword puzzles and kept multiple word dictionaries for reference. She loved watching her birds and had dozens of hummingbirds at her feeders.

Marjorie is survived by her son, Larry A (Tony) Cox of Charleston, Illinois (spouse Lewis Whitrock) and her daughter, Elizabeth (Libby) Frashier of Leavenworth, Kansas (spouse Keith); two grandchildren, Jared Frashier of Leavenworth and Nikole Schedeneck of Bradenton, Florida;  three great-grandchildren, Garrett, Jesse and Oliver; and one sibling, Ralph Wesner.

There will be no funeral as the family prefers to remember their loved ones alive. Memorials can be made to your favorite charity.
