Betty Jean Scott, age 90 of Paducah, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2025, at Holiday Assisted Living. Betty was born on September 7, 1934, to Roy F. Abanatha and Alice Odell Buchanan Abanatha. Betty was a long-time member of Shady Grove Baptist Church in Blandville, Kentucky, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School to young children for many years. She was a 1951 graduate of Blandville High School. Betty enjoyed quality time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Melia Wood and Mindy (Todd) Hawkins; one son, Myron (Christi) Scott, all of Paducah, KY; two brothers, Royce Lee Abanatha and Ronnie Abanatha, both of Cunningham, KY; seven grandchildren, Evan (Sarah) Smith, Kayla Reno, Jacob (Tabatha) Reno, Heather Scott, Lynsie (Brent) Talbert, Michael (Cyndi) Benitez and Autumn (Curtis) Redman; 13 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Preceding in death were her husband, Warren E. Scott, and one son, Michael Scott; granddaughter, Emily Smith; parents, two sisters, Marianna Bowlin and Martha Pryor; two brothers, Malcolm Abanatha and Joe Ben Abanatha.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2025, at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Revs. Todd Hawkins and Zeke Hobbs are officiating. Burial will follow at the Bethlehem Cemetery in Cunningham, KY. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.
