Marita Dawn Cathcart, age 81, of West Paducah, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at 7:39 P.M. on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at Baptist Health Paducah.
Dawn, as she was affectionately known by those who loved her, was born on Sunday, November 8, 1942, to Claude and Helen Hargrave. A lover of the great outdoors, Dawn found peace and solace in camping, embracing the tranquility of nature. Her hands were rarely idle, as she delighted in jigsaw puzzles and the creation of beautiful crochet pieces, a legacy of warmth she leaves behind. But perhaps her most cherished moments were those spent with her treasured grandchildren, showering them with the same love and care she poured into her puzzles, piecing together memories for a lifetime.
Dawn's bright spirit and gentle heart will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all of those who were fortunate enough to have known her. Her life was a tapestry of love, stitched together with joy and kindness, a pattern for others to follow.
Dawn is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Paul Fredrick Cathcart of West Paducah; two daughters, Tonya Lynn Griffith (Barry) and Trina Dawn Harlan (Bryon) both of West Paducah; and two grandchildren, Samantha Dawn Harlan and Lily Kate Harlan.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Dawn Cathcart; a sister, Delores Webb; a brother, Rick Hargrave; and her parents, Claude and Helen Lorrison Hargrave.
A funeral service is scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Sunday, May 12, 2024, at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Bro. Larry Davidson officiating. Burial will follow at 3:30 PM. At Harrisburg City Cemetery in Harrisburg, Illinois.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the service hour of 1:00 PM on Sunday, May 12, 2024, at the funeral home.
