Helen Daniels Ames, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2025, at the age of 98, in Paducah, Kentucky. She was born on July 7, 1927, in Troy, New York, to the late David and Grace Meminger Daniels.
After graduating from Catholic High School, Helen's pursuit of education led her to the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she earned an associate’s degree. She married Edward Ames in 1955 and then had two daughters, Alise and Teale. She was a stay-at-home mother for many years. For over three decades, Helen dedicated herself to the legal profession, where she was an asset to the firms she served and the clients she supported as a para-legal secretary.
Beyond her professional achievements, she loved ballroom dancing. Her love for music extended to her role as a singer for a time, in upscale piano bars in South Florida. She also loved athletics; swimming, tennis, and golf were among her favorites. She was always very proud of achieving the remarkable feat of scoring a hole-in-one when she was in her 50s. In the kitchen, Helen loved delighting friends and family with her delicious creations, and her adventurous spirit led her to travel, creating lasting memories that she cherished deeply.
Helen is survived by her two daughters, Teale Louise (David) Fackler and Alise Anne Ames both of Paducah; her four grandchildren, Dylan Tucker, Joshua David Fackler (Stefanie), Jonathan Ames Fackler (Jenny), and Dr. Philip Wesley Fackler (Amanda); and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Edward Wesley Ames.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 19, 2025, at The Greenhouse of Paducah, 2839 North Friendship Road, Paducah, KY 42003, with Rev. David Fackler officiating. Friends may call after 1:00 PM Saturday, July 19, 2025, at The Greenhouse of Paducah.
