John Wallace Tapp, 81, of Kevil, KY, passed away at his home on October 12, 2025.

John was born on December 8, 1943, in Dixon, Kentucky.  His parents were James Ramsey and Lida Mae Tapp.  He grew up in Morganfield, Kentucky.

John was a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a degree in electrical engineering.  He had a career in both the space and nuclear industries. He had a brilliant mathematical mind, helping his kids and their friends with numerous Algebra and Calculus equations.

John was a behind-the-scenes helper. Whether it was making a woodworking piece for church, family or friends, or sewing dolls to be sent on a mission trip, he always had a project. He loved any ballgame, especially the UK Wildcats and the St. Louis Cardinals.  He and his daughter, Rebecca, kept each other up to date on who was playing and when. John was married for 59 years to Reba Smith Tapp, whom he missed every day after her passing.

John is survived by two daughters, Margaret (Jeff) Siress, Benton, KY, and Rebecca Tapp, New York, New York.  His two grandchildren, Maidie (Jonah) Bohannon, Murray, KY, and Kiefer Siress, Benton, KY, were his pride and joy.  He took instantly to the role of Papa and was always so proud of everything they did.  John is also survived by one sister, Sandra Rowley, Morganfield, KY, and two brothers, Jim Tapp, Bartlesville, OK, and Bobby Tapp, Morganfield, KY. He leaves behind his beloved dog, Harper.

There will be no services.
