Peggy Douglas of Paducah, Kentucky, passed on to heaven on October 11, 2025, at the Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Center, surrounded by her family. She was born on January 13, 1933, in Paducah, Kentucky. Peggy was the daughter of Delmar and Elsie Hall Fires. She was married to David E. Douglas Jr. (Bud) for 53 years. They built a happy life and family together.  Some of you may remember Peggy as the person who took such good care of your dog or cat since she and our Dad owned and operated Douglas Kennels.

Peggy was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family meant everything to her, and she led by example. She taught us well. In her later years, if given the chance, she would proudly tell everyone that she was the luckiest woman in the world.  She said that she had the best parents, husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  She meant every word of it from the bottom of her heart. Everyone who knew her loved her.  She was kind, sweet, loving, and selfless.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, David (Bud) Douglas; her parents, Delmar and Elsie Fires; her mother and father-in-law, David and Vera Douglas; her brother, Winfred Fires; her grandson, Ryan Carl Walter; her son-in-law, Gerald Joiner; and her great-granddaughter, Connor Jane Walter.

Peggy is survived by her four children, David Douglas, Cathy Joiner, Janice Nesler (Larry), all from Paducah, and Glenda Walter from Nashville, Tennessee; nine grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

A family graveside service is planned for her at the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Paducah, Kentucky. Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Lone Oak is in charge of arrangements.

She will always be loved and missed by her family. The legacy that she and our dad left us will live on in our hearts.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center @ Mercy Health Foundation Lourdes, 1530 Lone Oak Rd, Paducah, KY 42003.
