Robert (Bob) Story, owner of Symphony Supply and Story Electric, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 28, at the age of 70. He was the son of the late Gus and Patsy Story. A native of Paducah, Bob graduated from Paducah Tilghman High School in 1973. While in college, he met Patricia Miller, the love of his life, and they married in 1978. Patricia preceded him in death in 2021.
Bob earned a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Louisville in 1978. He spent several years as Orchestra Director at Doss and Male Traditional High Schools before returning to Paducah to help run Story Electric and continue playing and teaching cello. He performed with the Paducah Symphony, the Serenade String Quartet, and at many special music events around town. He was a lifelong member of Broadway United Methodist Church.
Bob was known for his gentle, helpful, and humorous nature as well as his love of music. He brought joy to family, friends, customers and everyone he met.
Bob is survived by two sons, Ted Story and Aaron Story of Paducah; one sister, Cynthia Story Bisson (Douglas) of Nashville; one brother, Joseph Story of Seattle; and two nephews, Richard Bisson of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Joseph Plymale of Louisville.
Visitation begins at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 5, 2025 followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 5, 2025at Milner and Orr Funeral Home with Reverend Justin Ramer of Broadway United Methodist Church presiding. Burial will be after the service at Mt. Kenton Cemetery next to his wife and parents.
