Earlene Cecelia (Jones) Hart

February 3, 1927 – September 23, 2019

Earlene Cecelia (Jones) Hart, 92, of Smithland, Kentucky passed away at 8:10 a.m., Monday September 23, 2019 at Parkview Nursing Home in Paducah, Kentucky.

After many years spent raising her 6 children, Earlene began working as a nursing aide at Salem Nursing Home in 1969.  She loved nursing and continued her education by earning her LPN degree in 1971.  She then went on to fulfill her lifelong dream and graduated as an RN in 1989 in the top of her class at the age of 62.  She continued working as an RN until 2009 when she retired at the age of 82.  She had a true servant’s heart.  She was an excellent seamstress and cook.  She made clothing and costumes for her large family and her church.  She received a huge blessing from baking her famous coconut and German chocolate cakes on occasions too numerous to count.  She was always happy to do anything that was needed in every school and church function.  She loved every minute of it.  She also enjoyed traveling and golfing with her husband Hank.  She never missed an opportunity to cheer on and encourage her children and grandchildren when they were participating in any activity or sporting event.  She was an active member of The Potter’s House Baptist Worship Center in Smithland, Kentucky.

Earlene is survived by her six children, Patricia Kay (Robert) Barrett of Salem, Kentucky; Ronald Allen (Cynthia) Hart of San Antonio, Texas; Donna Charlene Dukes of Reidland, Kentucky; Michele Diane “Mickey” (Terry) Teitloff and Janet Gail (Louis) Hale both of Smithland, Kentucky, Vicki Delane (Randy) Henson of Grand Rivers, Kentucky; four grandsons, 7 granddaughters, 12 great grandsons, 15 great granddaughters, 3 great-great grandsons and 2 great-great granddaughters.  She is also survived by two brothers, Archie Allen Jones of Smithland, Kentucky and Howard Maxwell Jones of Cocoa Beach, Florida, two sisters, Barbara Jones Mix of Kevil, Kentucky and Linda Jones Ladd of Burna, Kentucky, and many, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Henry “Hank” Hart, her grandson Zachary Allen Hart, her parents, Harry O. Jones, Sr. and Lena Lorene (Scarbrough) Jones, and one brother, Harry O. Jones, Jr.

Earlene’s family would like to extend a very special thanks to the staff at The Lakes of Paducah and Parkview Nursing Home for their compassion and care to our mother and all of her family during the years and months of her stay with them.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 27, 2019, beginning at 11:00 a.m. with funeral services following at 2:00 p.m. at Boyd Funeral Chapel of Salem, Kentucky with Bro. Andrew Sexton officiating.  Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery.
