Barbara Nell Wurth Felts, 84, of Paducah, passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family.

A lifelong resident of Paducah, Barbara was born on October 24, 1933 to Ivo and Mary Philomena Hobbs Wurth and attended St. John School.  On July 1, 1952, she married Joseph William “Sonny” Felts, Jr. and they enjoyed sixty-five years of marriage.  As a lifelong member of St. John Catholic Church, Barbara was an integral and reliable member of the parish and any activity that supported the church and its members, particularly the annual St. John Picnic, various Knights of Columbus events and Daughters of Isabella.  If food was involved, Barbara was cooking.  In fact, her fried chicken was said to be the best in the area and was certainly the most requested.  She was a member of the bereavement committee for many years.  Barbara had worked various jobs, including CTS and retiring from Lone Oak High School cafeteria.

Quilt making was her passion and an art and skill she freely shared with others.  Her family was the benefactor of most of Barbara’s quilts.  She was an original member of the St. John Quilters that became an integral part of the St. John Picnic.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph William “Sonny” Felts, Jr.; children, Daniel Felts of Paducah, Michael Felts of Lexington, KY, Lesa (Kent) Smith of Ledbetter and Sandy Garland of Paducah; daughter-in-law, Michele Felts of Indianapolis, IN; sister, Elizabeth Harris of Louisville, KY; nine grandchildren, Laura Fletcher, Karen Hamang, Patrick Felts, Kendal Martin, Kris Smith, Ryan Smith, Laken Smith, John Mark Garland, and Apryl Veldman; and eleven great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was a son, Kenneth Felts; and siblings, Pat Williams, Edward Wurth, Paul Wurth, Ivo Wurth, Jr., Sonny Wurth, James Wurth, Norbert Wurth; and her parents.

A funeral mass will be held at 10am Saturday, February 3, 2018 at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Bruce McCarty officiating.  Burial will follow at St. John Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday evening from 5-8pm at Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home.  Prayers will be said at 7pm.
