Betty Jo Boggess, 91, of Paducah passed away at 2:33 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2018. Betty was born in Ashland, Kentucky. She was retired from the City of Paducah where she was Sexton of Oak Grove Cemetery for many years. Betty loved all aspects of her job but especially assisting families from all over the country in researching their genealogy. Betty was a long time member of Lone Oak United Methodist Church. She cherished her church family and they in turn loved and supported her even when she could no longer attend. She was an avid reader and enjoyed music and the arts.
Betty is survived by her son, Lee Boggess, and three daughters, Jane Frazier, Linda Boggess, Pam Souder and husband Rodney; five grandchildren, Bryan and wife Chelsea, Eric and wife Cija, Alex, Nathan and Livy; three great grandchildren, Adelyn, Nash and Justice and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Boggess, son, Jimmy Boggess; three sisters, Phylis Montague, Nina Caudill and Corinne Hall. Her parents were Richard Arthur Kerkeek and Bertha Whitt Kerkeek.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah with Pastor Eddie Smith officiating. Entombment will follow at Brook Hill Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at the funeral home.
