Bettye Wexler Williams, 71, of Paducah, passed away on Wednesday, February 07, 2018 at Ray & Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center.
Bettye was born in Memphis, TN on May 25, 1946 to Walter C. and Lillian Pigott Wexler.  She graduated as valedictorian from Humes High School and earned a degree from Rhodes College in 1968 and joined the Social Security Administration in June of that year.  She worked in several different offices in the southern states before becoming District Manager of Paducah SSA in 1978.  In this position, Bettye had responsibility for administering the Social Security and Supplemental Security Income programs in eleven counties in Western Kentucky.  During her forty-one year career, Bettye received over thirty performance awards, including Regional Commissioner’s Leadership Award and the Commissioner’s Citation, SSA’s highest honor award.
Bettye served on the Board of Directors of Market House Theatre and Paducah-McCracken County United Way.  The Paducah Business and Professional Women’s Association honored her as a “Woman Of Achievement” in 1986.  In addition, she was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and a Kentucky Colonel.  Bettye was a member of Lone Oak First Baptist Church.
She is survived by brothers, Walt (Linda) Wexler of Paducah and Robert W. McNair of Memphis, TN; step-children, Vicki (Billy) Wilke of Karnak, IL,  Christina Floyd of New Columbia, IL, Timothy Williams of Marion, IL and Daniel (Bridget) Williams of Mt. Vernon, IL; three nieces, Callie (John) Dismukes of Paducah, Wendy (Brian) Nicks of Greensboro, N.C.,  Jessica Richards of Paducah, and Melody Carole Wilson of Nashville, TN; nephews, Jordan (Crystal) Wexler of Bowling Green, KY and Robert McNair II of Memphis, TN; twelve step-grandchildren; dear friend, Julie Webb of Paducah; and faithful canine companion, Tucker.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Ronald R. Williams; her parents; her aunt and uncle, Hattie and Banks McNair.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Saturday at Lone Oak Chapel of Milner & Orr Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Wallace officiating.  Burial will follow at Mt. Kenton Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 10am Saturday at the funeral home.
